sOphroEsate - Be Clear Minded - Keep Your Mind Safe

Therefore be alert and of sober mind so that you may pray. 1 Peter 4:7

sOphroEsate is the word translated to be alert, scripture4all.org literal translation translates as - be ye sane!

Another translation explains the two words that make up sOphroEsate as 'to keep safe' and 'the mind' which we can interpret as keep safe the mind.nEpstate translated as of sober mind is translated as be ye sober! - on scripture4all.org literal translation from Greek

I found that the enemy likes to attack the mind and if our minds are distracted, it will make praying difficult. When you find things going awry around you, the goal of the enemy is not just to make things challenging for you but to keep your mind so preoccupied and distracted, that you are overwhelmed with worry so that you cannot pray. It's the relationship that he is really after...

Therefore let us guard our minds and be sober & vigilant so that we can pray.

"He who is too busy to pray will be too busy to live a holy life. Satan had rather we let the grass grow on the path to our prayer chamber than anything else." E.M.Bounds

"No man is greater than his prayer life" - Leonard RavenHill

"When a Christian shuns fellowship with other Christians, the devil smiles. When he stops studying the Bible, the devil laughs. When he stops praying, the devil shouts for joy." Corrie Ten Boom

"Satan is not really after your money or your success, he is after something far greater - your relationship with God! DISAPPOINT him!" Lara Allan Balogun

“Does Job fear God for nothing?” Satan replied. “Have you not put a hedge around him and his household and everything he has? You have blessed the work of his hands, so that his flocks and herds are spread throughout the land. But now stretch out your hand and strike everything he has, and he will surely curse you to your face.” Job 1:9-11
